Dr. Michelle LaPlaca is a tenured Professor in the Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University, where she has spent the last 24 years. In 2022, Dr. LaPlaca also started a Research Biomedical Engineering position at the Atlanta Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. LaPlaca’s Ph.D. is in Bioengineering in neural injury biomechanics and her postdoctoral training was in the Neurosurgery Department both at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Georgia Tech Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience, as well as a program faculty member in the Bioengineering graduate program at Georgia Tech and the Neuroscience graduate program at Emory.
